Submission Guidelines

Please check our individual submission guidelines. Some of us like direct email, some of us use Query Manager.

-

Eric Smith: You can send your query directly to eric at eric@neighborhoodliterary.com in a standard query letter format. If you’re having a hard time nailing that structure, Jane Friedman has some fantastic advice, as does Lindsay Ribar. But truly, don’t overthink it.

No attachments, please. Just the pitch. It takes between four to six weeks for Eric to respond to every query. While he can’t offer feedback on every pitch, he will reply to everyone.

Nudges are very welcome! But remember… four to six weeks, friends.

Rebecca Podos: Rebecca only accepts queries through the QueryManager system. Please be prepared to include a query letter and the first three chapters of your manuscript here.

-

Sahara Clement: You can send query letters directly to Sahara at sahara@neighborhoodliterary.com. Please include your pitch along with 2-3 chapters of sample material or a detailed outline. Sahara will do her best to respond to your query within 4-6 weeks.

-

Donovan Levine: Donovan accepts query letters sent directly to donovan@neighborhoodliterary.com with the first three chapters of the manuscript (attached or in the body of the email).

If he doesn’t get back to you on your query within 4 - 5 weeks, it is likely a pass.
